Mindarie is a small town in South Australia's Murray Mallee region, situated between Karoonda and Loxton. Established in 1912, it is believed that the name "Mindarie" originates from the Dieri Aboriginal language, possibly meaning "festival to invoke peace." The town is known for hosting the annual Mindarie-Halidon Races each September, a notable event in the area. Additionally, the Mindarie Rest Area, located off the Karoonda Highway, offers travelers a place to rest with picnic tables and shaded spots.
