Established in January 2001, Merriangaah Nature Reserve spans 5,669 hectares in the Snowy Mountains region. This expansive reserve conserves areas of ridge and hilltop woodland surrounded by natural grasslands. It is home to six species of native animals listed under the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995. Evidence of Aboriginal use has been found across the reserve, and remnants of old mine shafts from late 1800s mining activities are present. Visitors can explore the diverse ecosystems and rich history of this protected area.
