Merewether United Football Club, established in 1953, is a community-focused club dedicated to nurturing young talent in Merewether, New South Wales. Competing in the Newcastle Football competition, the club offers teams from under 6 through to over 35s, including a recent expansion into Zone League Football in 2024. The club operates entirely on volunteer support, with families actively involved in coaching, managing, and other essential roles. Home games are played at Myamblah Crescent Oval, a venue rich in history, having been established on the site of the former Glebe Colliery complex.
