Nestled within the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Melba Hall is a distinguished 340-seat concert venue celebrated for its exceptional acoustics. Housed in a grand white building on Royal Parade, dating from 1909 and classified by the National Trust of Victoria, the hall is renowned for its world-class acoustics for chamber music. It features two of the finest Concert Steinways in Melbourne, making it a sought-after venue for solo recitals and professional recordings. The hall underwent major restoration and refurbishment in 1986 under the direction of leading architect Darryl Jackson, adding widely spaced aisles and plush seating to enhance the concert experience. In 2013, further refurbishment celebrated the hall's centenary. Today, Melba Hall continues to be a cherished space for music education and performance.
