Located at the corner of Portland Street and Petticoat Lane in Penola, South Australia, the Mary MacKillop Penola Centre is dedicated to preserving and sharing the legacy of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and Father Julian Tenison Woods. The centre features two main exhibitions: 'Mary MacKillop: Penola – Where it all Began,' focusing on Mary's life and her time in Penola, and 'Julian Tenison Woods: Penola – Ten Years in the Bush and Beyond,' highlighting his contributions to colonial science. Visitors can also explore the historic Woods-MacKillop Schoolhouse, St Joseph’s Church with its shrine to Mary, and the early Cameron Home. The centre is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, with general admission priced at $8 per person.
