Established in 1889 on the site of the former Bathurst Gaol, the park features a bandstand, the Caretakers Cottage, Crago Fountain, Fernery, Lake Spencer, and the Munro Drinking Fountain. The park is renowned for its collection of mature, exotic trees, including Huntington Elms, Bunya Pine, Atlas Cedar, and English Oak, creating a serene atmosphere. The Begonia House, located on the eastern side of the park, showcases over 90 hybrid species of begonia during the autumn months, adding vibrant color to the landscape. Machattie Park is also an alcohol-free area, ensuring a family-friendly environment for all visitors.
