Lower Snowy River Area

The Lower Snowy River area, nestled in the southern part of Kosciuszko National Park, offers a serene retreat just 40 km south of Jindabyne. Visitors can camp along the Snowy River's banks, enjoying easy access to its sandy beaches ideal for fishing, paddling, and swimming. The area features scenic trails suitable for bushwalking, horse riding, and mountain biking, with the Pilot Wilderness mountain bike ride providing a challenge for experienced riders. The Lower Snowy drive (Barry Way) offers a picturesque route from Jindabyne to the Victorian border, passing through the Snowy River gorge and offering stops like Jacks lookout and Willis picnic area. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot red-necked wallabies, kangaroos, emus, and, with luck, the endangered spotted-tailed quoll.
