Long Plains is a rural locality situated approximately 76.8 kilometers north of Adelaide, South Australia. The area is divided between the Wakefield Regional Council and the Adelaide Plains Council. Historically, it was a terminus on the Adelaide-Port Augusta railway line from 1917 to 1923. The Long Plains Memorial Hall, established in 1923, honors four local residents who perished in World War I. The United Football Club, along with netball and other sporting clubs, are based in Long Plains. In October 2022, the Viterra wheat and barley silos were demolished, leaving only the water tower to stand out above the plains.
