
Lake Condah, also known as Tae Rak, is a shallow basin approximately 4 km long and 1 km wide, situated about 324 km west of Melbourne and 20 km north-east of Heywood. This area is renowned for its ancient aquaculture systems, developed by the Gunditjmara people over 6,600 years ago to trap short-finned eels and other fish. The lake lies within the Budj Bim National Heritage Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is part of the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape, recognized for its significant cultural and historical value.
