Lady Lake Hut, nestled on the escarpment of the Great Western Tiers in Tasmania's Central Plateau, offers a serene retreat for hikers and nature enthusiasts. Accessible via the historic Higgs Track—a 3.5 km, 2-hour trek ascending 530 meters through Myrtle, Sassafras, and Tasmanian Waratah forests—the hut stands at 1,130 meters elevation. Originally constructed in 1911 and rebuilt in 2004 by the Mountain Huts Preservation Society, it features a timber and iron structure with a central fireplace. The area is renowned for its alpine tarns, diverse birdlife, and opportunities for fishing and camping.
