Kristen Doherty is a South Australian playwright, screenwriter, director, and educator with over twenty years of experience. She has authored nine published plays, many of which have been internationally produced. Her works are performed in schools and theatre companies worldwide, including every state in Australia. Doherty specializes in creating large-cast, flexible, and gender-neutral plays suitable for primary, middle, and high schools, as well as universities and theatre companies. Her plays span multiple genres and styles, including Shakespearean, Epic Theatre, Magical Realism, Adaptation, Naturalistic, Comedy, Parody, Melodramatic, and Educational Theatre. She is also a recommended playwright for SACE Drama from 2021, and her plays support the new Australian Curriculum for SACE Middle School English. Additionally, a monologue from her play "Teen" is listed as one of the suggested pieces for Flinders Drama Centre auditions.
