
The Kinglake Heritage Centre, located at 1055 Whittlesea-Kinglake Road, Kinglake West, is a treasure trove of local history. Operated by the Kinglake Historical Society, it showcases exhibits on the area's gold mining past, early farming, and the development of roads and transport. Visitors can explore displays about pioneer families, schools, halls, churches, and the evolution of sports and entertainment in the region. The centre also offers insights into the history of bushfires from 1890 to 2009 and the contributions of local residents during both World Wars. Open every Sunday from 12 noon to 3 pm during winter and 12 noon to 4 pm in summer, the centre welcomes donations of $2 per person. Group bookings are available by appointment.
