Located in the historic Old Kilmore Post Office at 2 Powlett Street, the Kilmore Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage of Victoria's oldest inland town. Established in 1964, the Society offers a wealth of resources, including historical manuscripts, photographs, and publications. Visitors can explore exhibits, attend monthly meetings featuring guest speakers, and access research services. The Society's Research Centre, opened in 2000, operates on a volunteer basis to assist with historical inquiries. Opening hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm. Membership provides free access to resources, while non-members are welcome for a nominal fee. The Society also hosts events like book sales and commemorations, fostering community engagement and historical appreciation.
