Khancoban Pondage is a picturesque three-kilometre-long lake nestled at 298 metres altitude, forming part of the Snowy Mountains Hydro Scheme. Surrounded by the town of Khancoban, established in 1949 to house workers of the Scheme, the area offers stunning views of Australia's highest snow-capped mountains. In spring and autumn, the landscape transforms into a photographer's paradise with vibrant wildflowers and colourful foliage. The lake is accessible for various fishing methods, including bank angling and fly fishing, and features a cemented boat ramp for easy access.
