Kaurna Park Wetlands

Nestled in Burton, South Australia, Kaurna Park Wetlands spans 48 hectares of revitalized bushland, featuring winding paths and boardwalks. Once degraded farmland, it now boasts gentle water channels and a diverse native flora and fauna population. A 1 km Tapa Wardlipari Trail, meaning 'milky way' in the Kaurna language, offers an accessible journey through this historically significant area. The wetlands are home to 116 bird species, 21 of which breed here, and serve as a vital component of the Edinburgh Biodiversity Corridor. Recycled wastewater from the wetlands irrigates local ovals and park areas, showcasing innovative environmental management.
