The Kapooka Tragedy Memorial honors the 26 Australian Army servicemen who perished in a 1945 training accident at the Royal Australian Engineers Training Centre near Wagga Wagga. The site features a granite slab with a plaque and flagpole, commemorating the nation's largest military funeral. Each year on May 21, a memorial service is held to remember the fallen. In 2025, the 80th anniversary was marked by renaming nearby roads—Pomeroy Drive, Cousins Road, and Linthorne Road—in honor of three of the victims.
