Jones Store, constructed in the mid-1930s from corrugated iron, bamboo, and earth, stands as one of the oldest surviving structures in historic Newcastle Waters. Originally serving as a general store, it offered essential services such as butchery, bakery, and saddlery to drovers traversing the Murranji, Barkly, and north-south stock routes. After restoration, the building now functions as a museum, showcasing exhibits that depict the life of the outback drover and the history of the Newcastle Waters area. Visitors can explore the museum year-round through self-guided tours with interpretive signage.
