The Illawarra Ethnic Teachers & Parents Association, now known as the Association of Community Language Schools (ACLS), is a peak body association supporting the teaching, promotion, and maintenance of community languages and cultures in New South Wales. Established in 1975 as the Illawarra Ethnic Parents and Teachers Association, it has grown to include 52 member organizations teaching 28 community languages. ACLS offers guidance on setting up and running community language schools, applying for funding, and implementing effective teaching strategies. Members benefit from professional learning workshops and discounted insurance through the association's umbrella policy.
