Located approximately 15 km north of Jamestown in South Australia's Mid North region, the Hornsdale Power Reserve is the world's first large-scale lithium-ion battery, providing essential grid-support services. Completed in November 2017 with an initial capacity of 100 MW/129 MWh, it expanded by 50 MW/64.5 MWh in September 2020, enhancing its ability to stabilize the electricity grid and integrate renewable energy sources. The facility has saved South Australian consumers over $150 million in its first two years of operation. Visitors can view the reserve from a designated area, with directions available on the official website.
