Established in 1974, the Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens spans 26 hectares of 6,000-year-old foreshore dunes, showcasing native plants from the Wide Bay and Great Sandy regions. Visitors can explore diverse landscapes, including natural bushland, formal gardens, rainforests, and wetlands. Notable features include The Valley with its expansive lawns and lagoon, the tranquil Chinese-inspired formal garden, and the Bush Chapel—a rustic rainforest site ideal for ceremonies. The Orchid House, built in 2000, houses approximately 5,500 orchids and offers seasonal displays. The gardens are open daily from 6 am to 7 pm, with free admission.
