Helios Brewing Company, located at 15 Palomar Road in Yeerongpilly, Queensland, is a fully solar-powered microbrewery dedicated to environmental sustainability. Founded by environmental engineers Scott Shomer, Tony, and Jayne Rutter, the brewery utilizes 59 solar panels and a 15-kilowatt inverter, with approximately 60% of the energy produced used in-house and the remaining 40% fed back into the grid. The brewery offers a range of beers inspired by Greek mythology, including the Poseidon Pale Ale and Hades’ Bitter Chocolate Stout. The taproom features a downstairs area with the brewing operation and a timber bar, and an upstairs seating area with board games for children. As there is no kitchen on-site, a rotating selection of food trucks is available during operating hours. Helios Brewing Company is open Thursday from 4pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 9pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 5:30pm.
