Hayters Hill

Hayters Hill Nature Reserve, established in 1989, spans 8 hectares of protected rainforest in New South Wales' Northern Rivers region. Located approximately 5 kilometers southwest of Byron Bay, it conserves a remnant of the once extensive Big Scrub rainforest, now critically endangered. The reserve provides vital habitat for fruit-eating and rainforest-dependent birds, supporting migratory pathways for species like fruit-doves and cuckoo-shrikes. Situated on the traditional lands of the Bundjalung of Byron Bay (Arakwal) people, the reserve offers a serene environment for nature enthusiasts to explore and appreciate the region's rich biodiversity.
