Hayters Hill Nature Reserve, established in January 1989, spans 8 hectares and is located approximately 5 kilometers southwest of Byron Bay. This reserve conserves a remnant of lowland rainforest, an ecological community nationally recognized as critically endangered. It provides habitat for fruit-eating and rainforest-dependent birds and is part of a network of rainforest remnants critical to maintaining migratory pathways for fruit-doves and cuckoo-shrikes. The reserve is situated on the traditional country of the Bundjalung of Byron Bay (Arakwal) people.
