Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Nestled on Kangaroo Island's western edge, Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary spans 2,000 hectares of protected mallee woodlands and grasslands. Established in 1997, it offers guided Koala Walks and nocturnal tours, providing intimate encounters with native wildlife like koalas, wallabies, and echidnas. The sanctuary also features self-contained cabins with stunning views of Hanson Bay's turquoise waters. Recognized as a prime location to observe a sustainable koala population, it is a haven for birdwatchers, hosting species such as Blue Wrens, Lorikeets, and Cape Barren Geese.
