Haigh Mansions, constructed in 1921 by Alfred Ernest Haigh of Haigh's Chocolates, is a two-storey building featuring eight self-contained flats and a five-roomed bungalow. Designed as beachside accommodations for Haigh's family and associates, it showcases Art Deco architecture with external staircases and verandahs that capture the sun and sea breeze. The building's symmetrical design and two-wing configuration, separated by a light well, improve natural light and ventilation. Haigh Mansions is the earliest surviving example of purpose-built flats in South Australia, marking a significant evolution in suburban living during the twentieth century.
