Gwoonwardu Mia, located in Carnarvon, Western Australia, is a vibrant cultural hub that honors the five Aboriginal language groups of the Gascoyne Region: Yinggarda, Baiyungu, Malgana, Thadgari, and Thalanyji. The center's centerpiece is the award-winning exhibition, "Burlganyja Wanggaya – Old People Talking," which offers an immersive journey through the region's rich history and culture. Visitors can explore interactive displays, view artifacts, and experience the Sky Dome, showcasing the ancient art of Aboriginal stargazing. The Gallery Shop features works by regional artists, while the Ethno-botanical Garden highlights native plants and their cultural significance. Additional amenities include a Training Café, conference rooms for hire, and a bush tucker and bush medicine garden. Gwoonwardu Mia operates Monday through Friday, offering free general entry and a range of engaging cultural experiences.
