Guyra, NSW

Housed in the original Guyra Shire Council Chambers built in 1909, the Guyra Historical Museum showcases over 4,000 items reflecting the town's rich heritage. Exhibits include domestic and rural artifacts, a rare barbed wire collection dating back to 1875, and shearing handpieces from 1900. A notable display features a washing machine from the 1880s, one of only two known to exist. The museum also houses a projector from the Arcadia Theatre, which opened in 1929 and was used for various events, including films and boxing matches. Each room presents themed displays with informative notices, reflecting the dedication of volunteers who meticulously arrange the exhibits. Visitors can explore the museum by appointment, with entry fees of $5 for adults and $2 for children.
