Gunnamatta Ocean Beach, located in the Mornington Peninsula National Park, is a 3-kilometer stretch of exposed, high-energy coastline renowned for its consistent surf breaks. Facing southwest, it experiences strong westerly winds and waves averaging 1.9 meters, creating a 150-meter-wide surf zone with deep rip holes and gutters. The beach is accessible via Truemans Road, which leads through dunes to a large car park and the Gunnamatta Surf Life Saving Club. While popular for surfing and fishing, swimming is hazardous due to strong rips and high waves; visitors should exercise caution and stay between the flags. Dogs are not permitted on the beach.
