Gunnamatta Beach, located in the Mornington Peninsula National Park, is a 3-kilometer stretch of exposed, high-energy coastline. Facing southwest, it is subject to strong westerly winds and waves averaging 1.9 meters. The beach features a 150-meter wide surf zone, characterized by strong rip currents every 300 meters and additional permanent rips near reefs and rocks. Renowned for its excellent surf breaks, Gunnamatta Beach is also a popular spot for beach and rock fishing. Due to hazardous swimming conditions, visitors are advised to stay between the flags, on the sandbar, and away from rips, rocks, and reefs. Dogs are not permitted on the beach.
