Nestled in Oyster Bay, the Green Point Observatory serves as the hub for the Sutherland Astronomical Society. The observatory features a 35 cm Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope under a roll-off roof and a 41 cm Newtonian telescope within a dome, complemented by portable telescopes and binoculars for member use. Regular Thursday evening meetings at 7:30 pm include guest speaker talks, committee meetings, and special interest activities. Public open nights are scheduled annually, offering the community opportunities to explore the cosmos. The observatory is located at the intersection of Green Point and Caravan Head Roads; visitors can follow the path westward through the reserve for approximately 100 meters.
