Green Hill Lake Reserve, located just 4 km east of Ararat along the Western Highway, offers a serene lakeside setting ideal for camping, fishing, and various water activities. The expansive campground features free camping without designated spots or powered sites, allowing campers to choose their preferred location. Amenities include drinking water, fire pits, picnic tables, free gas barbecues, chairs, a playground, exercise equipment, a pontoon, boat ramps, and hot showers in the main toilet block. The lake is well-stocked with trout and redfin, making it a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts. A concrete walking and cycling path connects the lake to Ararat, and there are walking tracks suitable for bird watching and bushwalking. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a leash. Camping is free, with donation boxes available to support maintenance and improvements. Please note that camping permits are required for stays longer than 5 days, with a maximum occupancy of 28 days per calendar year.
