Great lakes lookout

Perched at 1,133 meters above sea level along the Highland Lakes Road, Great Lakes Lookout offers panoramic views of Tasmania's Central Plateau. This rest area features an information bay with a map of the highlands, providing visitors with insights into the surrounding landscape. The lookout is conveniently located near Pine Lake, a serene alpine lake fringed by unique pencil pines, accessible via a short 800-meter return walk. The area is renowned for its cold climate, with winter temperatures averaging 6°C, and is occasionally dusted with snow, adding to its picturesque charm.
