Goulburn Correctional Centre, established in 1884, is a maximum and minimum security facility for male inmates, located in Goulburn, New South Wales. The complex includes the High Risk Management Correctional Centre, known as 'Supermax,' which opened in 2001 as Australia's first supermax facility. The centre is renowned for its heritage-listed hand-carved sandstone gate and façade, designed by Colonial Architect James Barnet. Goulburn Correctional Centre continues to play a critical role in the NSW prison system, housing some of the state's most high-risk inmates.
