Gerang Gerung is a rural locality in Victoria's Wimmera region, approximately 353 km northwest of Melbourne and 375 km from Adelaide. Established in 1846, it began as a pastoral settlement and developed into a village by 1887 with the arrival of the railway. The name "Gerang Gerung" is believed to derive from an Aboriginal word meaning "leaf" or "branch." As of the 2016 census, the population was 69. The community is served by a CFA fire station, a recreation reserve, tennis courts, and the Gerang Memorial Hall, which commemorates those who have served in various conflicts.
