
Located along the New England Highway in Wallabadah, the First Fleet Memorial Garden honors the 1,520 individuals who journeyed to Australia on the eleven ships of the First Fleet in 1788. The garden features eleven circular beds, each representing a ship, with sandstone tablets inscribed with the names of its passengers. A winding cobblestone path connects these gardens, leading to storyboards that share personal accounts and memoirs from convicts and sailors, offering insights into the hardships faced during these voyages. A Second Fleet section further explores the differences between the two journeys. Amenities include picnic areas, barbecues, and public toilets, making it a fitting tribute to Australia's colonial past.
