As a primary gateway to Wellington Park, it provides access to several scenic walking tracks, including the heritage-listed Pipeline Track and the Fern Tree to Silver Falls Loop. Cyclists can also enjoy nearby tracks. The park is equipped with picnic tables, gas-fired BBQs, and public toilets, including accessible facilities. Dogs are welcome on leads, with a dog bag dispenser available. The area has a rich history, attracting tourists since the 1860s and hosting summer strawberry feasts in the 1890s. The nearby St Raphael's Church, built in 1893, has withstood two major bushfires and remains a local landmark.
