Eraring Power Station, located near Dora Creek on the western shore of Lake Macquarie, is Australia's largest coal-fired power plant. It comprises four 720MW Toshiba steam-driven turbo-alternators, totaling a capacity of 2,880MW. The station utilizes salt water from Lake Macquarie for cooling and reclaimed sewage water for steam generation, minimizing environmental impact. Scheduled for closure by mid-2025, its operational life was extended to August 2027 in May 2024.
