Nestled in a heritage-listed building at 149 Oliver Street, Grafton, the Criterion Theatre is a cherished community venue with a rich history. Originally a dance hall in the 1940s, it boasts a unique "sprung" timber dance floor, enhanced by rubber underlay for added resilience. Transitioning to a warehouse in the 1950s and then to a theatre in the 1960s, the Criterion Theatre now hosts a variety of performances, including musicals, comedies, and high tea events. Managed by a dedicated committee, it offers table seating for 80 patrons, with BYO drinks and nibbles, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all.
