
Established in October 1977, Coolongolook Nature Reserve spans 198 hectares along the southern bank of the Coolongolook River, where it meets the Wang Wauk River. This reserve is part of the Wallis Lake reserves group, which includes Wallis Island, Regatta Island, Mills Island, Yahoo Island, Bandicoot Island, Flat Island, and Durands Island Nature Reserves. The area is characterized by diverse ecosystems, including tall open forests, woodlands, and heathlands, providing valuable habitats for various species. Visitors can enjoy the serene river setting, ideal for activities such as boating, kayaking, fishing, and swimming.
