Comerong Island Nature Reserve, established in August 1986, spans 660 hectares within the Shoalhaven Estuary, a globally recognized habitat for diverse shorebirds and waders. Visitors can enjoy a grassy picnic area near the northern car park, popular for recreational fishing, swimming, surfing, and birdwatching. Access to the island is via a small car ferry crossing Berry's Canal at Comerong Island Road. A 300-meter bushwalk leads to the beach, which may be dense in parts. A four-wheel-drive track runs from the northern to the southern ends of the island.
