Chatauqua Peak, located in the Grampians National Park near Halls Gap, offers a 5.6 km loop trail that typically takes 2-3 hours to complete. The path begins at the Halls Gap Recreation Reserve oval and ascends through open forest to the base of Clematis Falls, best viewed after rain. The trail then climbs steeply to the rocky summit of Chatauqua Peak, requiring some rock scrambling. From the peak, hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of the Grampians National Park and Mount Gar Ranges. The return journey passes through Bullaces Glen, a lush fern gully, and the Botanic Garden, leading back to Halls Gap. This moderately difficult hike involves a 200-meter elevation gain and is unsuitable for those with mobility limitations or young children.
