Chain of Ponds, SA

Chain of Ponds is a historic locality in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, established in the 1840s as Philptown. Renamed in 1864, it was known for its series of ponds that never dried up, even in the driest summers. The town was submerged during the construction of the Millbrook Reservoir between 1914 and 1918. Today, only a cemetery remains as a reminder of the original settlement. The area is now a serene spot for nature enthusiasts, offering scenic trails and a glimpse into the region's rich history.
