Cardstone is a rural locality in Queensland's Cassowary Coast Region, situated approximately 50 kilometers southwest of Innisfail. Established in the 1950s to house workers for the Kareeya Hydro Power Station, the village once featured homes, a school, and a post office. However, in 1990, the village was decommissioned, and its structures were relocated or demolished to restore the area to its natural state. Today, Cardstone is characterized by its lush rainforest surroundings, part of the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics of Queensland, offering a serene and untouched environment.
