Burnie Port

Established in 1827, Burnie Port is Tasmania's largest general cargo port, handling over five million tonnes of freight annually, including more than half of the state's containerised cargo. Located on the western shore of Emu Bay, it serves as a vital gateway for bulk minerals, forestry products, and international containers. The port is undergoing significant upgrades, including the Burnie Gateway initiative, which aims to accommodate larger vessels and enhance terminal infrastructure, supporting the growth of Tasmania's mineral exports to global markets.
