Bungama Solar is a large-scale renewable energy project located approximately 6 kilometers east of Port Pirie, South Australia. The development encompasses around 530 hectares of land in the suburbs of Bungama, Napperby, and Warnertown. The project includes a 280-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) facility and a 150 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The solar panels utilize a single-axis tracking system to maximize energy production by following the sun's movement throughout the day. The generated electricity is converted from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) through inverters and then transmitted via underground cables to the Bungama Substation, connecting to the South Australian electrical grid. The BESS enhances the stability and reliability of the power supply by storing excess energy for later use. This project is part of Amp Energy's global initiative to develop and operate clean energy assets, contributing to the transition towards sustainable energy sources.
