Nestled in South Bowenfels, the Bowenfels Presbyterian Church stands as one of the oldest churches west of the Blue Mountains. Established in 1842, it features a distinctive east-west orientation, with the original section built around 1850. This area was divided into a kirk (church) at the east end and a schoolroom on the west end. A Session House was added in 1877, and the main north-south section was completed in 1884. The complex was financed and organized by Andrew Brown, who also founded St Andrew's College at the University of Sydney. He is buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery, located across the Great Western Highway from the church, along with other significant local pioneers. The church continues to serve the community, offering services every Sunday at 10:00 AM.
