Blackbutt Forest Reserve, located on Shellharbour Road, is a 110-hectare natural woodland and the largest of its kind in the Illawarra region. It serves as the last remaining viable remnant of coastal plain forest in the area. The reserve features a variety of walking trails offering panoramic views of Lake Illawarra, Macquarie Pass, the Illawarra Escarpment, and Saddleback Mountain. Visitors can enjoy extensive picnic and barbecue facilities, children's playgrounds, terraced open spaces for outdoor activities, an amphitheatre showcasing Australian flora and fauna, an open-air stage for concerts, and a fitness circuit.
