Bell Bay

Bell Bay, situated on the eastern shore of the Tamar River in northern Tasmania, is a vibrant industrial hub and deep-water port. Serving as Tasmania's largest industry precinct, it spans over 2,500 hectares and accounts for 59% of the state's manufactured exports. The port facilitates a diverse range of industries, including forestry, minerals processing, fuel, containers, and project cargoes. Notably, the Bell Bay aluminium smelter, operational since 1955, is the first in the Southern Hemisphere and continues to be a significant contributor to the region's economy. In recent years, Bell Bay has been at the forefront of Tasmania's renewable energy initiatives, with projects like the Bell Bay Powerfuels aiming to produce green hydrogen and methanol, marking a new era of sustainable energy in the region.
