Located in Devonport's historic 1920s Harbourmaster's residence, the Bass Strait Maritime Centre offers an immersive journey into Tasmania's maritime heritage. Explore extensive ship models, local history exhibits, and the natural wonders of Bass Strait, including its islands and shipwrecks. Experience the thrill of navigating the SS Woniora, a state-of-the-art ship simulator that brings the challenges of Bass Strait to life. Engage with dynamic exhibitions, including the "Our First Mariners – Sea Country People" display, highlighting the deep connection between Tasmania's Aboriginal community and the sea. Enjoy a coastal-inspired menu and the best coffee in town at the licensed café. The gift shop offers a selection of Tasmanian and maritime-themed treasures. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the centre is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and Good Friday.
