Barrbunin Beek, meaning 'happy place' in Woiwurrung, serves as a dedicated gathering space for the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in Heidelberg West. Located within the Fred Howe Annex at 55 Catalina Street, it offers a culturally safe environment where individuals can connect with culture, share knowledge, and build community. Operated by the community and supported by Banyule Community Health, Barrbunin Beek hosts various programs, including Foodshare, Storylines women's group, Men's Group, Mob Dinner, and Mums & Boorais. The Committee of Management is working towards becoming a fully independent Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, promoting self-determination and cultural celebration.
